COVID 19 Violation: FCTA Issues 24hr Ultimatum To GT Banks In Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Administration(FCTA) has issued twenty four hours ultimatum to Area 3 Guaranty Trust Bank to put the necessary COVID 19 safety measures in place for their customers or have their premises sealed

The chairman, FCT Enforcement Team on COVID 19 Comrade Ikharo Attah issued the warning to the management of some of the GT banks visited in Abuja.

Comrade Attah who lamented that the lives of customers were being endangered at the banks premises due to lack of physical distancing, and absence of hand washing facilities at the entry points, encouraged the banks management to set canopies and chairs for their customers.

According to comrade Attah, “the FCT Administration may be left with no choice but to seal the banks should they fail to set canopies, chairs and washing hands facilities for customers. This is the fourth time we are visiting GT bank in Area 3 for this purpose”.

Some customers who expressed their displeasure over what they described as poor management practices by the bank, alleged that some of the bank staffs were favouring some individuals that were not on queue.

Other respondents that decried spending between 3 to 4 hours in bank without getting their cash, also appealed to GT bank management to re-open closed branches to minimize the sufferings of customers in the territory.

GT banks visited includes Area 3 branch, Central Business District branch and Area 11 branch in Garki, Abuja,
