Ex-APGA Presidential Candidate Calls For Measures To Tackle Poverty In Nigeria

 


The former Presidential Candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in the 2019 Elections, Major General John Gbor has called for more proactive measures to tackle poverty in the country

Major General Gbor made the call in Abuja while receiving an Award of a Political Icon presented to him by the Council of Bishops in Nigeria. 

The former APGA Presidential Candidate who expressed concern over the level of poverty in the country also called for more political will in solving the problem. 

According to him, Nigeria is endowed with abundant natural and mineral resources that can cater for the need of all her citizens.

He identified corruption as a major factor responsible for the high rate of poverty in the country. 

Major General Gbor therefore stressed the need for clergymen to develop Keen interest in politics to enable the country overcome her challenges.

“Clergymen should not sit on the defence but rather take the bull by the horn and participate in politics to correct the nation’s anomaly’ he stated.

Major General Gbor also advised the youths to always hold the leaders accountable and contribute their quota to good governance. 

Presenting the award to the former APGA Presidential Candidate, the National Coordinator of Council of Bishops in Nigeria, Doctor Paul John said the gesture was to recognize the political contribution of Major General John Gbor in the last Presidential Election.

Highlight of the event was special prayer for the peace and development of the country as well as for Nigeria to overcome the COVID 19 pandemic ravaging the entire global community.
