The Minister of the Fedral Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello wants the six Area Council Chairmen to upgrade their communities and prioritise human capital development in their respective domains.
The Minister gave the advise when the six Area council Chairmen paid him a working visit in Abuja.
Malam Bello who pointed out that governance at the grassroots was critical for the overall development of the Territory, also tasked the council chairmen to give priority to public health, primary education and sanitation issues .
According to Malam Bello, prioritising education, sanitation and public health at the local government level,would make the electorates to remember them for good when their tenure is over.
“All of us will finish our tenures and we will still live within the communities. This is the time to upgrade your communities and focus on human capital development, making major changes in the communities do not necessarily require massive funding. What is required, is re-orientation and mobilization of the people. There is refuse everywher, Nothing prevents you from supervising the cleaning of the streets yourselves” Bello lamented.
The FCT minister further called on the chairmen to deploy the same amount of energy and methods utilized during political campaigns to mobilize the people into the development of their communities.
Earlier, Chairman, Gwagwalada Area Council, Adamu Mustapha Danze on behalf of the council chairmen pledged their readiness to champion community development.
