House of Reps Summons Niger Delta Minister, NDDC Ag MD Over Alleged Fraud

The House of Representatives has summoned the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Senator Godswill Akpabio and the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Professor Daniel Pondei.
They have been asked to appear unfailingly before the investigative Committee on Monday to answer questions on allegations leveled against them.
The House Committee on NDDC issued the summon at the continuation of its investigative hearing into the alleged misappropriation and malfeasance of funds by the interim management committee of the NDDC.
The Committee also directed that the summon on the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs and the Acting Managing Director, be served on them through the media or any other substitute means.
Meanwhile, the immediate past acting managing director of the NDDC, Mrs Joy Nunieh, has testified before the committee via Zoom, where she made grave allegations against the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, whom she accused of perpetuating contract scams and other corrupt practices in the commission.
She further revealed that there was no forensic audit being undertaken despite the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari in October last year.
The ex-NDDC boss was to testify before the Committee on Thursday but was prevented from travelling to Abuja following an early morning siege to her residence in Port Harcourt by armed policemen.
She was eventually rescued and taken to the Rivers State Government House by the state governor, Nyesom Wike.
