The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, NCPC, Rev Yakubu Pam has rolled out a five point agenda to move the agency to an enviable height.
This is contained in a statement signed by him and made available to radio Nigeria in Abuja.
The statement which states the agenda to include abiding by the Rules or Acts establishing the Commission, rebuilding the image of the Agency, to embark on a re-orientation of the mindset of Ministers of God and Pilgrims, to work on relationship between NCPC Board members, staff and relevant stake holders, and lastly to synergise with Church leaders for sponsorship.
“My main Agenda is to ensure that we abide by the Act that established the NCPC and to work with all relevant agencies in the Pilgrimage sector.
“I have carefully studied the Act that established the NCPC and one striking provision is that “The Executive Secretary is given recognition as the Chief Accounting Officer of the Commission while every other staff of the agency are support staff of the Executive Secretary.” Rev Pam stated.
“The Act has also given me powers to punish anyone who fails in his or her duties, adding that by this provision, it simply means that I will be accountable to every deed and misdeeds of the agency”.
The statement quotes Rev Pam as saying he would not want to be associated with corruption or anything that will dent his image or the image of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, as he stand as an ambassador.
“I will do my best to fight corruption and redeem our image globally as well as the image of the agency” and I will also work closely with the NCPC Board and staff to ensure mutual respect and interpersonal relationship to achieve our common goals” Pam stressed.
It pledges to build a credible institution in NCPC that will make her the envy of other government agencies, which will in turn make other agencies seek the services of staff owing to their capacity and integrity.
According to the statement, Rev Pam says the Commission has started working strategically with relevant stakeholders who will ensure thorough screening for intending Pilgrims for an increased global acceptability and respect.
“I will work assiduously to gain people’s trust to enable me carry out reconciliation amongst people for peaceful co-existence.
The statement explains that a peace desk will be establish at the Commission to tackle conflicts resolution.
“I have been involved in peace and reconciliation for many years as reiterated by government while announcing my appointment and would extend same gesture if permitted by government of the day by establishing a reconciliation unit in the commission to foster peace, unity and tolerance amongst people” Rev Pam stated.
It that this will enable government utilize the peaceful atmosphere to carry out its policies and programs for its citizenry.
