Those living In lowlands and along River banks in Niger State have been told to relocate.
The Head of Operations, Minna office of the National Emergency Management Agency, Nema, made the call during the flag off relief materials to victims of windstorm in Mokwa and Lavun local government areas of the state.
The windstorm that hit the two local government areas occurred few months ago and affected twenty one communities.
This led to the destruction of property especially houses and vehicles.
In a bid to provide succour for the victims, the Federal government, through NEMA provided humanitarian relief support to those affected.
The Head of Operations, Minna office of the Agency, Mrs Wagami Lydia explained that NEMA had carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the situation to identify those to be supported.
Represented by the Operations Head of Research and Rescue Unit, Malam Hussain Isah, the Head of operations emphasized the need for people to always adhere to warnings to prevent any form of disaster.
The Chairman, Mokwa Local Government Council, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar commended the Federal government for the intervention.
He however appealed for more support from other bodies and individuals.
Some of the beneficiaries told Radio Nigeria that the relief materials came at the right time.
Items distributed are food stuff, sleeping and building materials.
