Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, PSN, Abuja Branch has distributed Personal Protective Equipment, PPEs worth millions of naira to residents of Mpape Community, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory.
Distributing the PPEs, the Chairman of PSN, Abuja Branch, Pharmacist Kilani Jelili said the gesture was part of the Association’s contributions to the fight against COVID 19 in rural communities of the FCT.
Pharmacist Jelili who expressed concern over the attitude of some Nigerians towards the pandemic advised the people of Mpape community to take their personal hygiene very seriously and adhere strictly to government’s directive on COVID 19 to ensure the eradication of the virus in the country.
While stressing that the PPES would be distributed in all rural communities in the FCT, Pharmacist Jelili reiterated the commitment of PSN towards the eradication of corona virus and other diseases in the country.
Earlier, the District Head of Mpape Community, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim promised to support PSN in its activities towards combating diseases in the community.
Alhaji Ibrahim who lauded the efforts of PSN on COVID 19 eradication stressed the need for community leaders to always sensitize their people on the causes and prevention of COVID 19.
Some of the beneficiaries of the PPEs, Aisha Yahaya, Suleiman Tanko and Godwin Ike commended PSN for its campaign against COVID 19 in Mpape community.
They called on other Organizations to emulate PSN in the fight against COVID 19 in the country.
PPEs distributed to the people of the community include hand sanitizer, face masks, protective masks among others. Highlights of the event was public lecture and sensitization on the prevention of COVID 19.
